Minnesota Milk's legislative initiatives for the 2010 Minnesota Legislature include:
Dairy Development and Profitability Enhancement Program (Resolution #3)
Preserve funding for Dairy Development and Profitability Enhancement Program for Fiscal Year 2011. Position this program to be restored to the previous annual appropriations level of $1,005,000 for the 2012-2013 biennium.
Livestock Investment Grant Program (Resolution #1)
Preserve funding for the Livestock Investment Grant Program and seek to increase funding by capturing funds from Department of Agriculture obligations which have been fulfilled. Renew message that the annual funding level – based on demand demonstrated in past funding application cycles – is at least $10,000,000.
Environmental Compliance, Permitting and Environmental Review (Resolution #9)
Direct state and local governments to improve NPDES/SDS permitting process and Environmental Review process.
Healthy Choices in Schools (Resolution #5)
Develop a state and school district cost sharing program to cover school district costs to properly handle, store and dispense milk and other low-fat dairy products – with particular attention on serving milk in recyclable plastic containers.
Dairy Research, Teaching and Consumer Education Center (Resolution #13)
Begin a House Agriculture Committee inquiry to determine facility needs and research partnerships which will need to be established in order to proceed with bonding and appropriations requests to fund a Minnesota Dairy Research and Education Center.
Care of Animal (Resolution #28)
Animal Care provisions to protect dairy producer’s ability to provide proper care of their animals. |
