A well-coordinated day with a variety of opportunities to partner with other members of the dairy industry. There are several "veterans" for you to partner with during the day, so there is no need to be nervous.
Schedule of Events
8:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Welcome Center Open (State Office Building, Room 300 North) Everyone must check-in to receive a welcome packet including a list of scheduled meetings, agendas for committee hearings, key talking points, and maps.
8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. House & Senate Committee Hearings (Locations To Be Determined) The committee schedule has not been finalized as the legislative session begins February 4th. Therefore, committee details will be provided in your welcome packet. House Committees that could meet include: Agriculture, Rural Economies & Veterans Affairs Finance Division; Environment & Natural Resources Finance Division; and Environment Policy & Oversight. Senate Committees that could meet include: Agriculture & Veterans; and Environment, Energy & Natural Resources Budget Division.
8:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Capitol Visits (State Capitol and State Office Building) Meet with legislative leaders from the House and Senate. A meeting with Governor Tim Pawlenty has also been requested.
11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. Boxed Lunch Served (State Office Building, Room 300 North)
12:00 - 12:30 p.m. Legislative Briefing (State Office Building, Room 300 North)
5:00 - 7:30 p.m. Private Meet & Greet Reception (Best Western Kelly Inn, St. Anthony Room) Exclusive event for members of Minnesota Milk and Cooperative Network to gather with legislators and other industry stakeholders to discuss issues affecting the dairy industry in the 2010 Legislative Session.

Parking
Members of Minnesota Milk and/or Cooperative Network that attend the Meet and Greet reception may park for free at the Best Western Kelly Inn. Additional parking information, maps, and driving directions may be found on the Minnesota State Legislature website. Go to www.leg.state.mn.us/ and click on “Visiting the Capitol”.

Dairy Day at the Capitol is free for members of Minnesota Milk and Cooperative Network. Non-members will be asked to pay a $10 registration fee for lunch. Pre-registration is not required, but strongly recommended to assist with meal planning and scheduling of legislative meetings.
