Minnesota Milk Awards $12,000 in Post-Secondary Scholarships

 

BUFFALO, Minn. -- The Minnesota Milk Producers Association is announcing the 2018 recipients of its annual scholarship awards. Twelve outstanding individuals from four schools are this year’s awardees. The recipients will be recognized at this year’s Minnesota Milk Dairy Conference & Expo on November 27-29. The convention will be held at Treasure Island Resort and Casino in Welch Minn.

The 2018 scholarship recipients are:

  • Leif Annexstad, of St. Peter, attending University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, studying Animal Science, son of Rolf and Jean Annexstad.
  • Matthais Annexstad, of St. Peter, attending University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, studying Animal Science, son of Rolf and Jean Annexstad.
  • Margaret Socha, of Rogers, attending South Dakota State University, studying Dairy Production and Agricultural Business, daughter of Michael and Donna Socha.
  • Denver Stage, of Vesta, attending South Dakota State University, studying Dairy Production, Dairy Manufacturing, Food Safety and Agriculture Business, son of Greg and Laura Stage.
  • Josie Greden, of Altura, attending South Dakota State University, studying Animal Science and Dairy Production, daughter of Ross and Vicky Greden.
  • Sierra Swanson, of Hutchinson, attending University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, studying Animal Science, daughter of David and Kari Swanson, employee of Kurthkine Dairy.
  • Johannah Nielson, of Russel, attending South Dakota State University, studying Animal Science, Pre-Vetrinary Science, Spanish, and Agriculture Business, daughter of Bruce and Roxanne Nielson, employee of Prairie Line Farms.
  • Ellen Harth, of Hinckley, attending University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, Agricultural Communications and Marketing, daughter of Harold Harth.
  • Ethan Johnson, of Heron Lake, attending South Dakota State University, studying Dairy Manufacturing and Agriculutural Education, son of Dean and Elizabeth Johnson.
  • Elizabeth Krienke, of Lester Prairie, attending Spouth Dakota State University, studying Dairy Production and Spanish, daughter of Kraig and Rochelle Krienke.
  • Mitchell Reistma, of Sauk Centre, attending Ridgewater College, studying Dairy Management, son of Paul and Carolyn Reistma.
  • Savannah Aanerud, of Donnelly, attending Alexandria Technical and Community College, studying Agriculture Education and Communications, daughter of Andy and Heather Aanerud.

Minnesota Milk has awarded more than $85,000 in scholarships since 2006. Every year, money is raised during an auction in conjunction with the Minnesota Milk Dairy Conference and Expo. Scholarship applications are due each June.
