Minnesota Milk held it’s 44th annual meeting, and first in virtual format, on Wednesday, December 2. Directors Rick Smith, Garrett Luthens and Aaron Vogt were re-elected to the board, while Sadie Frericks, Blue Diamond Dairy, was elected as a new At-Large director. Meeting attendees heard from Princess Kay of the Milk Way and our award winners: Bruce Cottington “Friend of Dairy” Award – Tom Anderson, Legislator of the Year – Chairman Collin C. Peterson and Producers of the Year – Spadgenske Dairy.

The board will hold a reorganizational meeting to elect officers and conduct further business next week.

Prior to the meeting a great one-hour session by Phil Plourd of Blimling and Associates covered the Sudden Storm experienced in the dairy industry in 2020. A recording is available here. The Upper Midwest Dairy Industry Association coordinated their annual meeting with Minnesota Milk, and earlier held sessions on the Food Safety Modernization Act as well as updates from the Minnesota Department of Agriculture and Farm Service Agency.
